The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources seeks public comment on a surface water report.
The state uses the 2024 Integrated Report for Surface Water Quality Assessment to identify impaired waterbodies. It's also a requirement for the federal Clean Water Act.
The report details South Dakota's surface water resources, information on pollutants, and descriptions of the state's water quality monitoring programs.
Officials with the D-A-N-R want public input on the draft to help ensure water quality is being considered across the state.
Comments will be accepted through March 4th.
