The state Department of Health has introduced the new guidelines for the Women, Infants, and Children, or WIC nutrition program.
The program is provided at no cost to eligible families to aid with grocery bills for nutritious foods.
The WIC formula is based on family size, and eligible families are at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.
For example, a family of four earning less than $57,720 can qualify for the assistance checks.
The new regulations are effective July 1. Application information can be found on the Department of Health's website.
