Here's What Happens When Pandas Have Twins

Follow @Nate_WekSDPB

When pandas have twin cubs the mother will chose just one to look after; the other will be abandoned. At the Wolong Giant Panda Base in southwest China, vets use human neo-natal techniques to keep these rejected cubs alive.

These animals as adults can weigh around 300 pounds, and they can be up to four feet long. When they’re born, Pandas are 1/900th the size of their mother. In the wild, they mainly live in bamboo forests and can eat more than 75 pounds of bamboo a day.

According to the World Wildlife Foundation, there are only around 1,800 pandas left in the wild, making them an obvious endangered species.
