A committee in the Black Hills has $292,939 to spend, and it wants ideas from the public.
The Black Hills Resource Advisory Committee gets funding from the federal Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. The money helps counties that contain untaxed national forest land.
The money can be spent to improve the environment, help wildlife, or maintain roads, trails and other infrastructure. But the projects must be on national forest land or adjacent land in Custer, Lawrence or Pennington counties.
