Group Has $300,000 To Spend In Black Hills, Wants Proposals

The Black Hills National Forest.

A committee in the Black Hills has $292,939 to spend, and it wants ideas from the public.

The Black Hills Resource Advisory Committee gets funding from the federal Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. The money helps counties that contain untaxed national forest land.

The money can be spent to improve the environment, help wildlife, or maintain roads, trails and other infrastructure. But the projects must be on national forest land or adjacent land in Custer, Lawrence or Pennington counties.

The deadline to submit a proposal is Nov. 16.

Proposals may be submitted online at http://cloudapps-usda-gov.force.com/FSSRS/CreateNewprojectpage.

Or, get a proposal form at https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd821844.pdf and email it to Kelly Warnke, RAC coordinator, at [email protected] or mail to Mystic Ranger District, ATTN Kelly Warnke, 8221 S. Hwy 16, Rapid City, SD 57702.

Further information is available by contacting Warnke by phone at (605) 716-1978 or email at [email protected].
