Humanities organizations now have an additional option for summer program funding.
The South Dakota Humanities Council is opening grant applications for the upcoming season. Up to $10,000 dollars are available for each applicant.
Executive director Ann Volin says these grants are a one-time opportunity.
“And this is not something that we've done before, but we realized that there's need this year because people are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic. Obviously, there's still the impact going on right now, and we haven't even entered the full recovery phase.”
Since 2010, the South Dakota Humanities Council has awarded more than $800,000 dollars in funds to nonprofits across the state.
The grants are for events and opportunities between July and October. The deadline for summer applications is May 23rd.
