High winds and heavy wet snow are snapping off tree limbs and breaking power lines across the Black Hills area. Officials warn the public to stay inside and call in anytime they see a downed power line. The situation remains extremely dangerous with very high winds, deep wet snow drifts, zero visibility at times, and even thunder and lightening.
The blizzard has forced much of the area to shut down. Government offices, I-90, schools, medical facilities, and the airport are closed due to the storm. Travel is not advised across the region.
More snow is expected overnight. Parts of the Black Hills are seeing over three feet of snow.
Power outages are widespread. The public is urged to stay indoors.
