A known gang member was arrested in Huron this morning as part of a FBI-coordinated nationwide takedown. Jean Torres-Soto stands accused of conspiring to distribute large amounts of cocaine, heroin, and marijuana. Gary Bunt is the Senior Inspector with the U.S. Marshal Service. He says this nationwide takedown was a highly coordinated plan that involved law enforcement from all across the country.
“It entails several years’ worth of work by the FBI and the organized enforcement task force conducting a large-scale investigation of drug trafficking across the United States and its territories. We had U.S. Marshals from across the state and FBI agents from various offices from around the state converging in Pierre late last night and early this morning. They had been working previously with the Huron Police Department and Jerauld County Sheriff’s Office to confirm the fugitive’s presence in the community and this arrest took place in concert with other arrest that took place across the country and in Puerto Rico,” Bunt says.
Bunt says this effort is a great success for the war on drugs in America. He says that the FBI, the State, and local law enforcement are doing everything they can to keep the communities of this country safe.
