The nonprofit Helpline Center provides assistance through the 2-1-1 number, crisis support services, and connecting people with volunteer opportunities.
Helpline Center CEO Janet Kittams says 2-1-1 services are available in 20 counties throughout the state.
She says more than 1,600 South Dakotans have called to ask for help or to volunteer their time as the state deals with flooding.
SDPB’s Jeremy Ludemann visits with Kittams to discuss additional details about how people can receive and provide assistance.
