An Aberdeen businessman known for founding several major hotel chains has died.
Ron Rivett passed away over the weekend, according to his family.
Rivett founded both the Super 8 and My Place hotel chains. The first Super 8 opened in 1974 in Aberdeen. It now has over 2,000 locations worldwide, according to its parent company, Wyndham Hotels.
An Aberdeen native, Rivett graduated from Northern State University in 1963.
He was 83.
