Some South Dakota school districts are eyeing possible budget cuts in the near future. This comes despite the state ranking last in teacher pay, a major workforce shortage, and millions of surplus dollars.

South Dakota is receiving a $3.1 million grant to improve the state’s high-speed internet infrastructure. The money comes from the federal “Internet for All” program.

South Dakota’s two largest universities each received accreditation for a new health care program. USD’s Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice has full approval from the national accrediting council.

Two South Dakota tribal leaders are part of a new federal program aimed at improving housing options for American Indian and Alaska Native people.

President Joe Biden is pledging to give Native Americans a stronger voice in federal affairs. He spoke yesterday, the opening day of the first in-person summit on tribal affairs in six years.
