South Dakota's lone House member tells fellow Republicans to "pay attention to conservative wins" in the deal to prevent a default on the nation's debt. Federal lawmakers have until June 5 to pass legislation before the U.S. runs out of money to pay its bills.

A year after the law's passage, more than 100 new mental health professionals could be trained for South Dakota's needs thanks to funding provided by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

State leaders are continuing to improve suicide prevention efforts in South Dakota. Suicide is the number one cause of death in SOuth Dakotans ages five to 35.

The Black Hills National Forest is hosting special nighttime walks on Saturdays close to a full moon from June to September. They're called "moon walks." They're a family-oriented way to learn about the natural and cultural history of the Black Hills.
