One of the members of the Mitchell Legion baseball team involved in a rape investigation has struck a plea deal with prosecutors. The incident, alleged to have taken place in Pennington County, quickly became one of the most prominent court stories in the state.

As voter registration numbers decline in native communities, the national Democratic Party is investing $70,000 into South Dakota to increase participation. But some say the amount may not be enough to make a huge difference.

Rapid City’s growth has been, put simply, rapid over the last decade. The most recent population estimate puts that total well over 80,000 in the city proper – but with growth comes challenge.

A Mitchell city council member is raising questions about the city vote that narrowly approved $25 million-dollar plan to clean up Lake Mitchell. Conversations surrounding if, when and how the lake would be cleaned have been going on for years.
