The South Dakota Secretary of State is approving a citizen referral for a state law called the "Landowner Bill of Rights." It will get placed on the November ballot. The controversial law took up much of the legislative session earlier this year.

It's a hot one in the Black Hills and that sparked three wildfires in a single day this week. The isolated burns were reported Wednesday.

Recent flooding in southeastern South Dakota is elevating the risks for West Nile Virus in the area. With one human case reported in Beadle County and mosquitos testing positive for the virus in Brookings County, the state Department of Health wants residents to take precautions.

Sanford Health is attempting to merge with Wisconsin-based Marshfield Clinic Health Systems. But experts in the field of health care business say this merger — like Sanford's previous attempts — face challenges.
