On today's update...

A new report raises questions about the financial impact of a proposed initiated measure eliminating tax on products sold for human consumption. The analysis found the fallout of IM-28 on the state's checkbook could vary by hundreds of millions of dollars—depending on how its language is interpreted.

A newly published report dives deeper than ever before into U.S. Indian boarding schools—a system where hundreds of Native children died and thousands more were disenfranchised from their families and communities. Among other things, it identifies 74 burial sites at 417 institutions across the nation.

Lawmakers are laying out the groundwork for legislative investigation into a major embezzlement case involving a former state employee. Lonna Carroll is accused of stealing $1.8 million over 13 years while working for the Department of Social Services.

Six people are indicted in connection to five crimes reported in the state prison system. Two of those charged are former Department of Corrections staff members.

And more.
