Last year, South Dakota State University hosted a drag show that was described as kid-friendly in promotional materials. In response, some legislators are now seeking to ban state resources from hosting "lewd and lascivious" content.
All references to drag shows were removed from House Bill 1116 in committee. However, lawmakers brought up the performance art throughout the House debate.
HB 1116 is now headed to the Senate.
