Marijuana once again hits the South Dakota ballot.
South Dakota Secretary of State Monae Johnson validated Initiated Measure 29, which legalizes the recreational use, possession and distribution of marijuana for individuals over age 21.
This is the third time South Dakotans are voting to legalize marijuana since 2020.
In 2022, voters rejected recreational marijuana use. Two years earlier, voters approved a recreational cannabis ballot question, but that law was later overturned in the courts.
