B-1 bombers could be moved from Ellsworth to North Dakota

A proposal could move up to 17 B1-B bombers from Ellsworth Air Force Base to the Grand Forks base in North Dakota.

The 28th bomb wing plans to repair the runway at Ellsworth for much of 2025. In turn, the 10-month repair could the flight crews relocate to North Dakota for training purposes.

That means as many as 1,000 military personnel could be relocated because of the move.

Currently, a statement from Ellsworth representatives says it’s only a proposal.

It is unclear when a final decision will be announced.
