Gov. Kristi Noem is urging the NCAA to restructure its settlement with student-athletes.
The settlement relates to Name, Image and Likeness sponsorships for colleges and universities.
Under the settlement, schools outside of the four major collegiate athletic conferences are responsible for approximately 60% of the cost.
Noem calls the settlement “unfair” to South Dakota schools and claims it would cost them “hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.”
This comes after Attorney General Marty Jackley filed a lawsuit against the NCAA over the proposed settlement.
