SOUTH DAKOTA FOCUS Earth Day

Jackie Hendry hosts SD Focus, Thursdays at 8pm (7 MT) on SDPB.

Join South Dakota Focus, Thursday, April 22, at 8pm (7 MT) on SDPB1 and SDPB.org to recognize Earth Day and discuss a variety of environmental issues in the state.

SDPB’s Seth Tupper examines the recent USDA Forest Service report calls for decreased timber production in the Black Hills., South Dakota State Forester Greg Josten, and Norbeck Society President Bob Burns join host Jackie Hendry live to discuss the future of the logging industry in South Dakota. 

Dr. David O’Hara directs the new Environmental Studies major at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. He discusses teaching environmental philosophy and the variety of student-led projects his class has inspired. 

We also continue our new series Good Neighbors. Michelle Haukaas is the Market and Garden Manager for the Sicangu CDC’s Food Sovereignty Initiative. The program works to provide fresh vegetables throughout the Rosebud Reservation with a locally-tended garden, farmer’s markets, and produce subscription boxes.
