Conference Play Begins For SDSU and USD Basketball

Both South Dakota State and the University of South Dakota are set to begin Summit League conference play tonight in both men's and women's basketball.

The University of South Dakota hosts Omaha in men’s basketball, while the coyotes women will travel to Omaha. South Dakota State’s men’s team will travel to Denver, while the women’s team will host Denver at Frost Arena.

Midco Sports Net will air a double-header showdown this Sunday in Fargo, ND when the Jackrabbits make the trip north to take on the North Dakota State Bison. The women will tip-off at 1 pm with the men's game tipping-off at 4 pm.

The SDSU men’s basketball team has put together a 9-5 record through non-conference play, going 5-0 at home and 4-5 away from Frost Arena. SDSU’s women’s team currently holds an 11-4 overall record with 6-2 at home and 5-2 on the road.

The Coyotes men’s basketball team has a 6-8 overall record to this point, going 3-1 at home, but 3-7 away from the Dakota Dome. USD’s women’s team is 10-3 thus far, with a perfect 6-0 home record.

USD’s women’s basketball team won the 2014 Summit League conference tournament and went to the Women’s NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.

SDSU’s women’s basketball team has won five Summit League conference championships, doing it in five consecutive seasons (2009-2013).

The Jackrabbit men’s team has won two Summit League conference championships (2012 and 2013).

This years Summit League tournament will be held in Sioux Falls, SD at the newly constructed Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. That event is scheduled for March 7-10. Tickets are still available on the events center’s website.
