The Dakota Wesleyan wrestling program has named Casey Mouw as it’s new coach. He is the 12th head wrestling coach in DWU’s history.
Mouw comes to Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell from Sioux Falls, where he spent the last two years as an assistant coach for Roosevelt High School. Even though he enjoyed his time coaching high school kids, Mouw states that this new opportunity is a dream come true. He said coaching at the college level is special, because it’s a full-time job.
"I think it’s something that all of us who do this think about when you can really focus on the sport, you’re not doing it as a side gig. And you can really put your stamp on the culture of the program and the way things are done," explained Coach Mouw. "You can start bringing in the right people, and that’s really what it’s all about. Developing people and getting the right people to surround these kids and surround ourselves with."
Outside of having coaching experience at Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Mouw is a graduate of Augustana University where he received his degree it fitness management. He then moved to Iowa to be the strength and conditioning coach for the University of Northern Iowa, before coming back to Sioux Falls to work with the Rough Riders wrestling squad.
