On Thursday night, Miller defeated Sully Buttes in 3-0 sweep on the volleyball court. The Rustlers won the first set 25-21, the second set 25-13, and the third set 25-21.
It’s what happened during the game that made headlines. Miller junior Kadye Fernholz entered the match needing 11 kills to join the 1,000 kills club. She ended up having 18 kills in the clash with Sully Buttes as Fernholz achieved the milestone.

Along with leading the team in kills on Thursday night, Fernholz also recorded 16 digs – another team high.
Miller, who is currently ranked No. 3 in Class A for the South Dakota Media Preps Volleyball Poll, will play No. 2 ranked Warner of Class B next Tuesday night.
