South Dakota Public Broadcasting is debuting a new short story digital series entitled ‘South Dakota Almanac.’ The state of South Dakota has a rich history when it comes to sports, and with that comes the many faces who have led to it.
‘South Dakota Almanac’ will inform the viewers of some of the greatest past sports figures that the state has to offer.
“Our goal is to inform the people of the state and other states of some of the great individual's we’ve had over the years when it comes to sports in South Dakota,” explained SDPB Sports and Recreation Producer Nate Wek. “Each segment is short and to the point – but at the same time, very informative to highlight the past of the figure being featured."
The series debuts with a timely piece about Earl Sande, a 3-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey from Groton, SD. Future installments will be deployed in bi-monthly on SDPB Sports' social media platforms and on the SDPB website at www.sdpb.org/almanac. The first two installments are available for public viewing below.
