SDPB To Re-Air State Basketball Tournament Games

Re-Air State Basketball Games

Starting this Sunday, SDPB will begin re-broadcasting some of the greatest South Dakota high school state tournament basketball games covered over the past two decades. The South Dakota Public Broadcasting sports archives go back to 2002, when SDPB received the contract to broadcast SDHSAA state championship events.

All of these games will air live at 2 pm CT/1 pm MT over the next four Sunday’s on SDPB2-TV.

Game #1

2018 AA Boys Championship: Yankton vs Harrisburg – Sunday March 29

(Yankton’s First boys basketball championship in 50 years)

Game #2

2011 B Girls Championship: Summit vs Newell – Sunday April 5

(It took two overtimes to decide this state champion)

Game #3

2009 B Boys Championship: Sully Buttes vs White River – Sunday April 12

(First boys basketball title for Sully Buttes and first in 40 years for Onida community)

Game #4

2014 B Boys Consolation Semifinals: Langford Area vs White River – Sunday April 19

(This game went into five, yes five, overtimes)

Nate Wek is currently the sports content producer and sports and rec beat reporter for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Broadcasting and a minor in Leadership. From 2010-2013 Nate was the Director of Gameday Media for the Sioux Falls Storm (Indoor Football League) football team. He also spent 2012 and 2013 as the News and Sports Director of KSDJ Radio in Brookings, SD. Nate, his wife Sarah, and three sons, Braxan, Jordy, and Anders live in Canton, SD.
