Red Cross offers tips on preparing for severe weather

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

While this winter may feel like it’ll last forever, spring weather will soon be upon us. And that means the possibility of severe storms, tornadoes and flooding.

Jennifer Pipa is vice president of disaster programs at the American Red Cross. She joined In the Moment to discuss things we can all do to prepare.

Pipa laid out a three-part plan every family should have: have an evacuation plan ready, prepare an emergency kit and stay informed.

Listen to her full interview for the details.

Jackie Hendry is a special correspondent with SDPB based in Sioux Falls. Her coverage interests include the many ways public policy impacts child welfare, elder care, health and education.
Ellen Koester served as a producer of "In the Moment," SDPB's daily news and culture broadcast.
