Supreme Court and School Diversity

Today, the issues of race, schools, and affirmative action go before the Supreme Court.

Guests take a look at what the decision might mean where you live, and two lawyers argue for and against considering race as a factor in admission to public schools.

Michael Small, Attorney in the Los Angeles law firm of Akin Gump; Filed amicus briefs on behalf of the National School Board Association in support of the two schools in the case (the defendants); Former Deputy Attorney General in the Justice Department during the Clinton administration specializing in civil rights and affirmative action matters

Sharon Browne, Staff attorney at the Pacific Legal Foundation, a nonprofit public interest law firm, in Sacramento, California; Pacific Legal Foundation filed amicus briefs in support of the parents in both cases (plaintiffs)
