The Roots of Black Liberation Theology

Sen. Barack Obama has called remarks by his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, "incendiary" and "divisive." But some writers and theologians have come to Wright's defense; they say his sermons have deep roots in the black church — a philosophy known as Black liberation theology.

Harry Jackson, bishop at Hope Christian Church in Washington, D.C., and Forrest Stith, retired bishop at United Methodist Church, talk about the origins and influence of Black liberation theology.
