Pierre sets 2025 budget

City of Pierre

The City of Pierre is setting the 2025 budget.

The city is budgeting about $60 million.

The biggest expenditure is $600,000 set aside for a future replacement of the Fire Department’s ladder truck.

The city is also putting $430,000 as the local match for the primary runway rehabilitation project at Pierre Regional Airport.

The city’s two main primary revenue sources are sales tax and utility rates.

City officials said because of this, if Initiated Measure 28 passes – a measure that would get rid of taxes on consumables - then the budget will need to change.
