Teresa Bittinger is no longer warden of the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.

Department of Corrections employees received an email Tuesday about the departure - South Dakota Searchlight reports.

In the wake of the departure – Director of Prisons Amber Pirraglia is serving as interim warden.

A DOC Facebook post says the department is now hiring for two wardens in Sioux Falls– one for the Jameson Annex and one for the State Penitentiary.

Bittinger was working as warden for both facilities.

The Department of Corrections has confirmed Bittinger’s departure and will not comment further.
