Brookings Regional Airport is being awarded the Large General Aviation Airport of the Year from the state Department of Transportation's Office of Aeronautics Services.
The award was presented at the DOT's annual airport conference. It’s based on FAA standards for maintenance and operations — including conditions of runway, lights and the ability to stay open in bad weather.
"We put a lot of pride and care into this airport,” said Airport Manager Lucas Dahl. “With over 51,000 total aircraft operations in 2024, we’re a busy regional airport and we strive to provide a safe, first-class airport for the flying community.”
It’s the second year in a row Brookings airport has won this award.
