Law enforcement officials are planning sobriety checkpoints across 14 counties in May.
Counties with planned checkpoints include Lawrence, Meade, Pennington, Jones, Hughes, Brown, Spink, Jerauld, Charles Mix, Roberts, Codington, Moody, Minnehaha and Yankton counties.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol said these checkpoints are design to encourage sober driving. Troopers work with local law enforcement agencies to conduct the checkpoints.
