For the second year in a row, Brynn Roehrich of Clark/Willow Lake has won the ‘B’ girls individual golf title. The Cyclones sophomore shot 72 both days to finish even for the two-day tournament.

Her performance gave her a four-stroke lead over Jadyn McDonald of Chester, who finished second, and a seven-stroke lead over Jayce Pugh of Miller, who placed third.

“I played two really consecutive rounds of golf. I mean, I shot even both days. I don't think you can really do much better than that,” stated Roehrich. “Day one, my goal was just to keep it close. Jadyn and Jayce are both very good golfers, and so my thing was just to keep it close, whether or not I was leading. I came out [Tuesday] and my mentality was to win. That was all there was to it. I wanted to win.”

This year’s ‘B’ girls tournament took place at Prairie Winds in Watertown, which is a course familiar with Roehrich.

“Prairie Winds is my home course,” she said smiling. “Me and my sister live about seven minutes away from there. My parents and stuff, everybody told me, you've played that course more than anybody and you know it like the back of your hand.”

Even though this is a spot that Roehrich has been in before, winning the state title, she still says she’s overcome with emotion.

“I’m kind of at a loss for words again. It's just really cool, I guess,” she said. “And it's cool because I get to have my sister on the team this year and she's a seventh grader, so that's a lot of fun.”

Faith Roehrich, Brynn’s younger sister, finished in 12th place at the tournament with a score of 32-over-par for the two-day event.

As for what’s next, Brynn said it’s to come back and try to do it again next year.

“The goals are to try and win out. There's very good competition, so I know it's not going to be easy,” she explained. “So, I just have to keep putting the work and stuff.”

Roehrich also said she’s hoping that Clark/Willow Lake can win the team title during her prep career as well. The Cyclones finished this year’s tournament in third place behind state champion St. Mary’s and runner-up Miller.
