The Department of Veterans Affairs officials say the agency is offering grants to organizations that assist with legal services for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

With $42 million available, organizations can apply for grants of up to $500,000, funding operations for two years starting this October.

The funds are part of the Legal Services for Veterans Grant Program.

The money is designed to provide veterans with representation to prevent eviction, assisting with family and estate court proceedings and disability compensation, and defending veterans in criminal proceedings that would prolong or increase their risk of homelessness.

"Services to help Veterans obtain benefits, maintain access to housing and navigate other common legal issues can make a huge difference in preventing or resolving homelessness,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “These important grants will help us make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of Veterans.”

Grant applications are due by 3 p.m CT on July 7, 2025.
