One person is dead and another is hurt after a small plane crash in western South Dakota.
Pennington County officials say a single-engine aircraft crashed Monday morning about mile west of New Underwood, just south of I-90.
Two people were on board. One was dead when emergency responders arrived. The other was flown to a Rapid City hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. A post from the NTSP identified the plane as a Piper PA-22-150.
