Authorities say a woman is facing drunk driving charges after crashing into a Rapid City Police Department building.
Police say an SUV crashed into the department’s southwest precinct building early Sunday morning.
The vehicle struck the median on Sheridan Lake Road while turning, lost control, went into oncoming traffic lanes, drove down an embankment before striking the building and causing "extensive damage," according to police. The 36-year-old driver was thrown from the vehicle before it hit the building. She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say she is charged with her second DUI offense as well as driving without a license.
No one was inside the building at the time of the crash.
