A multi-government partnership is holding a “Voices of the Unnamed Event” to honor the Missing and Murdered Indigenous.

The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit are collaborating on the effort.

They’re offering collection of DNA from family members of missing loved ones. Collected DBA is only cross referenced against unidentified human remains.

The event is supposed to help bring answers and potential closure to families in search of missing loved ones.

Organizers say participation is completely voluntary and DNA can be removed and destroyed at any time if requested.

The event is Dec. 18 and 19 in Rapid City at the Civic Center.

For more information on the event, you can contact Allison Morrisette ([email protected]) or Savannah Peterson ([email protected]).
