1st Annual SDHSAA State Show Choir Competition

Eight of South Dakota’s finest high school Show Choirs will gather in Sioux Falls for the 1st Annual State High School Show Choir Competition. The 2016 State Show Choir Competition will be held April 9th in the Lorang Theater at O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls.

The Annual State Show Choir Competition, sponsored by the South Dakota High School Activities Association, is the state competition for high school Show Choirs. During the State Competition, each qualifying school will perform for the public and a panel of three judges.  Awards presented at the Festival will include a third place, runner-up, and state champion in both Class A and Class AA, as well as an award for the top show band in each class.

The 2016 State Show Choir Competition will showcase performances by four Class A schools and four class AA schools.

The first performance of the State Competition begins at 1:00 p.m., April 9. Tickets for the competition will cost $10 for students, and $15 for adults.  New performances will begin approximately every thirty minutes throughout the day of the competition. The State Competition awards will be presented at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Nate Wek is currently the sports content producer and sports and rec beat reporter for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Broadcasting and a minor in Leadership. From 2010-2013 Nate was the Director of Gameday Media for the Sioux Falls Storm (Indoor Football League) football team. He also spent 2012 and 2013 as the News and Sports Director of KSDJ Radio in Brookings, SD. Nate, his wife Sarah, and three sons, Braxan, Jordy, and Anders live in Canton, SD.
