In September and October, the StoryCorps traveling booth was in Rapid City collecting conversations between family. Craig and Gail Eichstadt stopped by with their son Carl, who has autism.

Craig is an assistant attorney general for South Dakota. Gail is an attorney for South Dakota Advocacy Services and works with the Pierre Autism Spectrum Support Group. In this conversation, Craig and Gail Eichstadt remember the heartbreak when Carl was diagnosed with autism, but tell Carl he's been a blessing and is the glue holding the family together.
