Annual Statewide Poetry Contest Deadline December 1st

SD State Poetry Society

The state poetry society is holding its annual contest. Writers across South Dakota are encouraged to submit.  The South Dakota State Poetry Society was founded in 1927.  It includes a range of writers and poets from across the state.

Brad Soule  is a retired physician who now manages the annual poetry contest.

“What we’re looking for are submissions which will be judged in either category of portraits or landscapes, people or places. We have some prizes that are given.  And, we publish the winners in our journal which is called Pasque Petals, also which has been around for quite a while, and we’re very enthused in getting as many people as possible,” says Soule.

Soule says so far about 50 people have submitted poems to the contest.  The deadline is December 1st.  He says winners are set to be announced in early December.   The link to submit poems is here.
