The City of Sioux Falls has established the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan after 18 months of planning and community engagement. This effort aims to improve water quality, reduce waste, and increase recycling. Holly Meier is the sustainability coordinator for the city.
“The idea to have more nature encompassed into our urban environment would be one of the visual pieces, “said Meier.” Another one is that we hope to increase renewable energy like solar. So, we’re hoping to have solar on more buildings on more households. That would be another visual.”
This plan is posted on the city’s website for public comment through March 21st before being finalized.
