South Dakota celebrates Irish heritage

Sioux Falls St Patrick's Day Parade

This interview is from SDPB's daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.

St. Patrick's Day was on Thursday, but plenty of South Dakotans will celebrate Irish heritage throughout the weekend. More than 30-million Americans claim to have some Irish heritage according to census data.

The O'Hara clan emigrated to South Dakota in the mid-1800s.
Mike O'Hara will serve as the grand marshal of the 2022 Sioux Falls Saint Patrick's parade. He joins Lori Walsh to talk about his family and the parade for In the Moment.

The Sioux Falls Saint Patrick's Day Parade will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. on Phillips Avenue.

Carl Norquist is a producer and writer for In the Moment. An EMMY-winning producer, Carl previously worked for KTIV News 4 in Sioux City, IA. Carl is a Minnesota native and graduate of Augustana University with majors in Art and English.
Lori Walsh is a special correspondent with SDPB and host of the "In the Moment" podcast.
