What is the relationship between schools and prisons? What does that relationship look like for indigenous youth?
A new book brings three scholars together to consider those connections through the lenses of history, law, and education. It's called The School-Prison Trust. It's the latest addition to the Forerunners: Ideas First series from the University of Minnesota Press.
The book wouldn't exist without the story of a young man named Jakes. Jakes was interviewed while in a youth prison by coauthor Sabina Vaught.
Sabina Vaught Ph.D. is professor of education at the University of Pittsburgh and co-author. Brian McKinley Jones Brayboy Ph.D. is President's Professor at Arizona State University and is co-author.
