U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland was in South Dakota in October to hear stories from Native American elders about their experiences at Indian boarding schools.
At many of those boarding schools, students were harshly punished for speaking their language and sharing their traditional culture.
But here's something else that happened during Secretary Haaland's visit ... something that perhaps went unnoticed in the larger story of truth and reconciliation.
