Wish You Were Here | Cloverleaf Mine Preview

This month’s episode of Wish You Were Here with Eliza Blue takes viewers to Cloverleaf Mine in Lawrence County, South Dakota. Historically this mine was associated with the Galena Mining District in what is now the Black Hills National Forest. Gold was located there in 1878, but due to financial problems and flooding has been closed since 1937. New owner Joe Nonnast is giving the abandoned mine new life by refurbishing and adding to existing structures with an artisan’s touch.

Eliza hosts Humbletown, a folk-duo comprised of Morgan Carnes and Dylan Lewis from Lead, South Dakota, as they explore the heritage of mining in folk music and stories that are both personal and historical, and also debut a song composed by retired miner Sion G. Hanson.

Don't miss Wish You Were Here: Cloverleaf Mine March 23rd at 8 p.m. central, (7 MT) on SDPB TV-1.
