The South Dakota Shakespeare Festival nonprofit is hosting its 11th annual festival starting June 11. The events will take place in Vermillion and last a full week.
A 5K kicks the festival off on Sunday. It's called the "Bark with the Bard" fun run. Attendees are encouraged to bring their dogs to the event.
Other events throughout the week include workshops, Shakespeare-themed trivia and improv and a performance from renowned hip-hop Shakespearian sonnet performer Devon Glover.
The festival concludes with performances from June 16 to 18 of nine different scenes from Shakespeare’s works. The show is put on by traveling actors and will commence with a preview of next year’s feature play.
