New program to breathe life into the Lakota language

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

What's in a language? For the first cohort of a new program, it's a sense of home, history and culture.

In the face of dwindling numbers of fluent speakers, the Sicangu Lakolya Waoniya program is seeking to breathe life into the Lakota language.

Natalie Bordeaux and Chauncina Poor Bear, two of the six learners from the program's first cohort, and their instructor, Henry Quick Bear, join In the Moment to discuss the importance of passing down the language to future generations.
