This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

"A Place for Harvest" tells the story of Kenny Higashi from Spearfish. He was a Japanese-American son who went to war for his country and to keep his family out of an internment camp.

The story hit close to home for its author, Lauren Harris, and illustrator, Felicia Hoshino. Harris was Higashi's neighbor. Hoshino's father was sent to an internment camp.

The two will be at the Young Readers Festival of Books in Rapid City.
