If you're familiar with South Dakota art, you're familiar with the work of Oscar Howe.
Howe was a cultural icon who innovated and defined the Modern Indian Art Movement.
The exhibition "Oscar Howe Legacy Across Four Generations" explores the impact and influence of Howe's work by showcasing the work of 16 different artists from various decades succeeding Howe.
The exhibit is co-curated by Amy Fill and Keith BraveHeart.
Amy Fill is the University Art Galleries director at the University of South Dakota. She is also an installation artist and founder of the Rural Cloud Museum, a mobile art studio.
Fill joins "In the Moment" live from the Washington Pavilion for the 2024 state Arts Conference. She shares a conversation on continuing the legacy and curating the generation of art.
"Oscar Howe Legacy Across Four Generations" is on display now at the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center Egger Gallery. There will be an artist reception tonight, June 7th from 5-8pm at the Washington Pavilion.
