Committee prepares for Legislature's centennial anniversary

SDPB
South Dakota Legislature

The One Hundredth Session Planning Committee is discussing ways to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the South Dakota Legislature.

A few things in the works are a 100th logo, an educational outreach program, historical displays and a termesphere to hang in the Capitol building.

Termespheres are paintings on spheres done by Spearfish artist Dick Termes. Some potential depictions are the state Senate chambers or the history of people in the chambers.

The committee is contemplating selling miniature termespheres to help offset the cost of contracting Termes.

No actions were taken at the meeting.

The 2025 legislative session opens Jan. 14.
