South Dakota Hall of Fame announces 2025 inductees

The South Dakota Hall of Fame announces the 2025 class.

The ten inductees include Johnny Brockelsby in the business category. Brockelsby is described as "A legend of the tourism industry."

The general category includes former Sioux Falls Mayor Michael Huether, former executive director of the McCrossan Boys Ranch Walter Schaefer, and philanthropist and owner of the Pathways Spiritual Sanctuary David Wayne Snyder.

Greg Carmon, described as having "steadfast dedication to the community," is honored in the philanthropy category, along with Dr. Mark Harlow—the Oyate Health Center's Chief Medical Officer.

In the professional category, former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert A. Miller and Dr. Sophie Two Hawk, the first Native American to graduate with an M.D. from USD's School of Medicine.

Hailed as a trailblazing veterinarian, Dr. John A. Ismay in the agriculture category.

And in the political sector, Jim Soyer, who spent 44 years in public service.

The Hall of Fame is also recognizing a new category of inductee this year—the Historical Figure category. This year, it’s Valentine McGillycuddy, South Dakota’s first surgeon general.

Celebrate with the Hall of Fame’s class of 2025 at the ceremony taking place Sept. 12 and 13 in Chamberlain/Oacoma.
